THANK YOU and School Budgets
A Big Thank You
Hawley’s new Emergency Management Director, Brandon Root, would like to thank the road crew, town officials, the Fire Department, and everyone in town who helped make sure Hawley residents were safe and as warm as possible during this week’s two-day power outage.
“Many of us have spent many hours, day and night, working/volunteering on on this issue to keep our residents safe and fulfill their needs to the best of our ability with very little rest/sleep. Many have gone over and beyond. We still have a lot of cleanup, but we are getting there,” says Brandon.
And of course thanks are due to Brandon, who coordinated checking in with residents (and in many cases did the checking in himself!). In the weeks to come, our emergency-services personnel and the Selectmen will be evaluating our capacity for response with an eye to the future. Meanwhile, I personally have talked to a number of people in town who felt well cared for. And I have heard stories from residents about neighbors who checked in, helped light fires, and delivered water. Well done, Hawley!
School -Budget Hearings
I was hoping to get this notice out on Monday … but for most of us in Hawley NOTHING got out on Monday! Still, I want to let you know that the budget hearing for the Mohawk Trail Regional School District for Fiscal Year 2026 will be held this evening, Wednesday, February 19, at 6 p.m. at the school.
The hearing for Hawlemont’s forthcoming budget will take place next Wednesday, February 26, at 6 p.m.
This article in the Recorder may help fill readers in.
That’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll be back soon with more news. Until then, enjoy the warmth, water, and power that we often take for granted.
