Hawley is a small, spread-out town, and consequently internet is tricky for us. We are in the process of trying to find a way to get fiber-optic connections to run through town, but this requires lining up significant funding and may, frankly, take a few years. Meanwhile, Hawleyites have a few options.

Our official internet provider is WiValley in New Hampshire. WiValley has installed poles in and around town that provide internet via a cell-phone signal to many Hawleyites. Unfortunately, the service isn’t entirely reliable. Moreover, it is not available to every home in Hawley; frequently hills and trees get in the way of the signal. Nevertheless, when it works, it is far superior to what we had before.

Some Hawleyites opt for satellite internet from companies such as Hughesnet (which is generally more reliable than WiValley but costs more and has a cap on uploads and downloads) or, more expensively but more reliably, Elon Musk’s Starlink.

As we begin to explore the options for fiber, we’ll post more information on this page.
