Starring … Hawley!
Coming Soon to a Hamlet Near You
Over the next few weekends, Hawley (and a Hawleyite) will be featured in fun activities in and around town.
This weekend, on Saturday, July 26, at 5 p.m. at the Federated Church in Charlemont, my friend Jerry Noble and I will perform songs from the movies. We’ll go from the 1920s to the 2020s, from Al Jolson to Billie Eilish. Of course, we’ll end with a sing-along set. Please join us. I promise to get you out in time to eat dinner! Donations at the door will go to Mohawk Trail Concerts. Our concert is sponsored by the Charlemont-Hawley Arts Council.
NEXT weekend, on Saturday August 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. two spots in East Hawley will be
featured on the annual Hilltown History Trail. Come to the Old Town Common and/or the East Hawley Meeting House to take a look into our past. Knowledgeable guides (well, semi-knowledgeable in my case at the Meeting House!) will be on hand to talk you through the sites. This event is free.
Finally, Sunday, August 10, will be Hawley Day, our town’s annual reunion and celebration of all things Hawley. I’ll have more information about the day’s schedule soon.
A Quick Reminder
On a more mundane note, our tax collector, Betty Nichols, asked me to remind folks that real-estate taxes are due on Friday, August 1.
That’s all I have for this week. Next week I’ll have information from our public-health nurses, Meg Ryan and Lisa White, about ticks and insect-born diseases. (Not fun but necessary news.) Enjoy the sunshine and all that wonderful fresh produce!
Warmly,
