Special Dump Hours This Weekend and More

Phil

Transfer Station to Be Closed Saturday Afternoon

The Ashfield Transfer Station will have reduced hours this Saturday, February 21. It will close at noon so that dump attendants (and anyone else who wants to go) are able to attend services for long-time dump-meister Phil Nolan, who died last week.

As anyone who has ever visited the transfer station can attest, Phil was a generous presence who kept excellent track of everyone who came in and out. Known as the Mayor of Ashfield, he will be missed by our sister town and by those of us who frequent the dump. Here is his obituary for anyone who would care to read it.

A Good Cause

Hawley teenager Landon Clark will participate in the Polar Plunge (brr!) on March 4 to raise funds for the Special Olympics. If you’d like to contribute to his efforts (you don’t have to get into icy water yourself, just send in a little money), you may do so here.

Slight Change in Office Hours

I wrote last week that I would have office hours this coming Monday, February 23. That is still the day, but the hours will actually be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enable me to get to a meeting at 3:30. I hope to see you then, and I hope even more to see you at our brief Special Town Meeting that evening.

Warmly,

Tinky Weisblat
