Oh to be in Hawley now that April’s here!

Happy April, all. I hope that those of you who celebrate Easter enjoyed that day despite the rain and that those of you who celebrate Passover are still finding fun things to do with all that matzo.

I was hoping to get a newsletter out last week but was working to deadline on a project so I am a little late. I apologize!

Hawlemont Registration

Pre-school and kindergarten registration for Hawlemont Regional School took place last Friday, April 3. If you need to register a child and missed this deadline, please contact Amy Socquet, Early Childhood Coordinator, at 413-625-6194 or asocquet@mtrsd.org as soon as possible. You will need the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, lead test results, and immunization records for registration.

Hawlemont Playground Meet-Up

Parents and guardians of students with special education needs (SEPAC) are invited to a meeting this Saturday, April 11, from 3 to 4 p.m. Children will be welcome to play on the new play structures, and parents/caregivers will be able to share questions, concerns, and support.

Cemetery Clean-Up

Once again, Melanie Poudrier is organizing volunteers to help clean up town-owned cemeteries. Bozrah was done this past weekend, but Doane and East Hawley remain. The Doane Cemetery clean up is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon; East Hawley on Saturday the 18th from 9 to noon. Bring gloves and whatever equipment you can offer. Thank you, volunteers, and thank you, Melanie.

Candidates for State Representative

Lora Wondolowski, one of several candidates hoping to replace the retired Natalie Blais as our representative for the First Franklin District, will stop by the Selectmen’s meeting this Tuesday (tomorrow!), April 7, around 7 p.m. to learn about Hawley’s concerns. Like all Selectboard meetings, this one is open to the public so if you are interested in meeting Lora, please come.

Corinee Coryat, another candidate, came to the March 24 meeting. Unfortunately, she confirmed that she was coming too late for me to announce her visit in a newsletter. To learn more about Corinne, visit her website.

Sabra Billings, yet another candidate, is tentatively scheduled to visit Hawley for the May 5 meeting.

Dates to Remember

Don’t forget that our annual town election will take place on Monday, May 4. I’ll share the slate of candidates again soon. And Annual Town meeting will take place on Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m.

And don’t forget these previously announced events….

That’s all for today….

Warmly,

Tinky Weisblat
