The members of Hawley’s Historical Commission are John Sears (chair), Suzy Groden, Brandon Root, and Hussain Hamdan. Lark Thwing serves as a member emeritus. Hawley’s Historical Commission works in close cooperation with the Sons & Daughters of Hawley, the town’s historical society. The memberships of the two bodies overlap.
Local Historical Commissions are responsible for community-wide historic preservation planning and projects. For example, Hawley’s Historical Commission is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of the town’s four town-owned cemeteries.
