Office Closure and Happy Fourth
Town Office Closed for July 4
Our Town Clerk, Ellie Van Iderstine, will be out of the office tomorrow for the holiday. Feel free to email her at townclerk@townofhawley.com or leave a phone message at 413-339-5518 if you would like to schedule an appointment.
Happy (almost) Fourth of July! I hope you spend Independence Day in your favorite way: feasting with family and friends, swimming, watching fireworks, going to a concert, and/or just sitting outside reading a book.
A Little Music
If you’re LOOKING for a concert, look no farther than Charlemont, where Mohawk Trail Concerts will be making a joyful noise on both Thursday and Friday at 5 p.m. at the Federated Church on Route 2.
On Friday, July 4, the group will offer its traditional free Independence Day jazz concert with John Clark on horn, Avery Sharpe on bass, and Jerry Noble on piano. I’m not supposed to play favorites with MTC musicians, but I have to admit that when these three got together to play for us two years ago, I pronounced them the best jazz trio ever. So there!
On Saturday, July 5, pianist Sahun Sam Hong and violinist SooBeen Lee will present a classical program including Brahams, Mozart, Webern, and Schumann. I haven’t heard SooBeen Lee, but Sam Hong played last July in Charlemont and completely wowed the audience with his passionate playing.
A Couple of Recipes
Just in case you’re looking for culinary inspiration, here are a couple of July 4 recipes from my blog: Potato-Chip Chicken and Red, White, and Blue Sundays.
Have a glorious Fourth!
Warmly,
