Early Voting Is on the Horizon!

Early Voting for the September 1 Primary

A reminder: If you wish to come into the office for early voting, you will have three opportunities … beginning tomorrow! Here are the times and dates:

Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, August 25, from noon to 4 p.m.
(This is also the LAST day to request a mail-in ballot for the primary. Don’t forget to sign your application and let us know which party you would like to vote for.)

Thursday, August 27, from 4 to 8 p.m.

September 1 Primary Election

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. As I write this, we are 90 percent certain that the Sons & Daughters of Hawley will have a bake sale that day. So come vote and pick up a little treat.

Special Town Meeting

At Monday’s Special Town Meeting, townspeople voted to fix a couple of arithmetical errors in the budget approved at our annual town meeting. The other warrant article, funding extra health insurance, was passed over as it no longer seems to be necessary. Those of you who didn’t come missed out on a delicious treat I brought along to reward voters!

Spectrum

I wrote a while back that GoNetSpeed was hoping to match Spectrum’s pricing plans for broadband. I am now told by GoNetSpeed that this will not be possible. Spectrum is already wiring parts of town, and salespeople are starting to knock on doors. It’s an exciting time for Hawley.

Community Health Equity Survey

People throughout the Commonwealth are being asked to fill out a confidential survey that will give the State information about health-related topics … and we hope help rural areas like ours get more help. Please take the time to fill it out if you can. Find it here.
