Are You on the Broadband Map?
As we have noted before here, Spectrum fiberoptic services are coming to Hawley. The company’s representatives are going around town wiring homes for its broadband services.
It has come to the Selectboard’s attention that the map that Spectrum is using here in Hawley is missing some houses in town. If you have NOT received a visit, a mailing, a door hanger, or another promotional message, please let me (Tinky) know at once.
The Selectboard is interested in having as many interested residents’ homes receive fiberoptic service as possible. This is your opportunity to be wired with no installation costs. (Apparently, some distance caveats apply. Monthly fees are based on what you want to buy.)
Even if you are not interested in getting broadband right now, your home should be on the list in case you decide you want to be hooked up at a later date. So, I repeat, please get in touch with me if you have not yet heard from Spectrum.
Primary Election
Come to the Town Office vote this coming Tuesday, September 1, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. to vote in the primary … and perhaps to purchase something yummy from the Sons & Daughters of Hawley’s bake sale.
Of course, several slates on the ballots have only one candidate. Both the Republican and the Democratic ballots have at least one or two choices, however. So make your opinion heard!
Tinky’s Office Hours Next Week
I usually have office hours on Tuesdays from noon to 4. However, we are not allowed to conduct town business during the primary election. So next week I will be in the Town Office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31, instead of on Tuesday.
This Sunday, August 30, at 3 p.m. Mohawk Trail Concerts will offer its end-of season thank-you concert to the community. Board members and friends will play most American music on honor of our nation’s semiquincentennial. After the concert, all are welcome to mingle with friends and musicians over light refreshments. This event is free—although MTC always welcomes donations.
That’s it for now. Perhaps I’ll see you at the polls.
Warmly,
Tinky Weisblat
