Halloween Will Be Quiet in Hawley … But December Is Coming!

Dear Friends—We have canceled our Halloween party for this year; the date turned out to be one on which most of Hawley’s small fry were already committed. Next year, we’ll try to start planning earlier … and involved a young parent or two in the process so we can figure out the best time. Meanwhile, I wish you all a fantastic Halloween, whatever you’re doing! And please start thinking ahead to the December holidays with the …

Holiday Giving Tree

The Mary Lyon Foundation and Greenfield Savings Bank will be setting up a Holiday Giving Tree again this year. This wonderful program helps families who need a little help (as so many of us do!) to find gifts for their children.

Basically, families are asked to fill out this form to indicate the gifts their children might want and need. Forms are due in by Sunday, November 16. THEN community members are asked to visit the bank in Shelburne Falls starting on Monday, November 17, and select an ornament from the tree and purchase the gifts mentioned on the ornament. Gifts and ornaments get returned to the bank, which will ensure that they get delivered to families. All children and families will remain anonymous.

Please share the form with any families you think might need this assistance … and please visit the bank in November to help make some special child’s holiday a little happier.

That’s all I have for now, but I’m sure I’ll be back soon. Stay snug; it’s starting to feel cooler….

Warmly,

Tinky Weisblat
